Care for you and yor baby
a choice, a process and a personal experience.
Breastfeeding is a path that you, as a mum, choose — but sometimes it requires professional support. That is why at BMUM we have the BMUM comprehensive breastfeeding unit.
Comprehensive breastfeeding unit
The BMUM comprehensive breastfeeding unit is a multiprofessional unit involving midwives who are experts in breastfeeding, an osteopath, a paediatric physiotherapist, a paediatric surgeon, a paediatric ENT specialist, and the team’s paediatricians and gynaecologists.
Each case is assessed individually and led by the breastfeeding expert, who will refer you to the rest of the team if necessary. This way, we can address every breastfeeding situation and give your query an answer.
We draw on the latest available scientific evidence to provide care centred on YOU: your individual, cultural and family needs, preferences and values.
We can support you with:

Why is it important?
Breastfeeding is a natural process that, in many cases, needs expert, respectful support. At Bmum, the Breastfeeding Unit offers specialised, personalised support to resolve difficulties, build confidence and foster a healthy, satisfying breastfeeding experience for mother and baby.
The Bmum Breastfeeding Unit is a specialised service dedicated to providing families with professional support in everything related to breastfeeding and infant feeding. Its aim is to offer evidence-based support, with respect for each family’s situation and without judgement, helping to resolve difficulties and make informed decisions.
It is advisable to come when difficulties appear, such as pain, cracked nipples, latch problems, very long feeds, doubts about milk supply or low weight gain — or simply when the family needs reassurance and guidance through the process.
During the consultation both mother and baby are assessed, observing the feed, the latch, the position, the suck and other relevant aspects. This overall assessment allows us to offer tailored, realistic recommendations.
It is for all families, whatever type of feeding they choose. We support breastfeeding, mixed feeding and other forms of infant feeding, always adapting our approach to the needs of the baby and their family environment.
No. Support can be provided at any point in the breastfeeding journey, from the first days through to later stages, including weaning or changes in feeding.
Yes. Follow-up allows us to adjust recommendations, resolve new questions and support the family as the process evolves.
Professional, respectful, evidence-based support, integrated within a coordinated medical environment where the family’s peace of mind and wellbeing come first.
